Teaching adults is not the same as teaching in school or university settings. Adult learners bring real goals, limited time, uneven motivation, and a strong need for relevance.

Strong trainers do not rely on materials blindly. They learn when to use, adapt, or create resources based on learner needs and context.
Performance Matters
In professional contexts, learning is expected to lead to action. Learners need to communicate, participate, solve problems, and perform more effectively in real situations.

What You Will Learn
Throughout this course, you will explore how learning changes in adult, professional, and corporate contexts. You will work with practical design questions, real communication challenges, and the foundations of a more portfolio-based professional practice.
  • Understand Adult and Corporate Learning
    You will explore how adult learning differs from school and university teaching, what business contexts expect from training, and how learning becomes more relevant when it is connected to real goals and real constraints.
  • Analyse Learner and Client Needs
    You will learn how to look beyond language level or content coverage and identify what learners actually need to do, what challenges they face, and what kind of training can support meaningful improvement.
  • Design Practical Learning Experiences
    You will work with short, focused formats such as microlearning, communication tasks, and performance-based activities that reflect the realities of adult learning and workplace training.
  • Evaluate, Adapt, and Create Materials
    You will develop stronger judgment in working with materials by learning when to use existing resources, when to adapt them, and when to design something more suitable from scratch.
  • Use AI as a Design Tool
    You will explore how AI can support planning, adaptation, idea generation, and material development while still requiring instructional judgment, critical thinking, and professional revision.

Curriculum Developer & Teacher Trainer
Her work brings together teaching, academic leadership, curriculum design, instructional systems, assessment development, and practical material creation across K–12, higher education, and corporate learning. She is particularly interested in building learning that is clear, scalable, and genuinely usable in real educational settings.

Over the years, she has worked on a wide range of educational projects from curriculum systems and modular course design to teacher-facing materials, assessment frameworks, professional learning resources, and communication-focused training. Her experience includes leadership and design roles in the Netherlands and Russia, as well as international work in England, the USA, Dubai, Belgium, and Israel.
Course Curriculum
This course is organised as a practical journey from teaching in traditional educational settings toward designing learning for adult, professional, and corporate contexts. Each module builds on the previous one and combines conceptual input, reflection, applied tasks, and portfolio-based work.
  • Module 1. Introduction to the Course

    This opening module introduces the aims, structure, and logic of the course. It explains how the course connects educational experience with adult learning, professional communication, and portfolio-based development, and helps students understand the broader direction of the learning journey.
  • Module 2. The Shift: From Educator to Corporate Trainer
    This module explores the transition from traditional teaching into adult learning, corporate training, and Learning & Development. It focuses on how learner needs, context, and expectations change when education moves into professional environments.
  • Module 3. Designing for the Busy Adult Learner

    This module examines the realities of adult learning under real-life constraints. It introduces key challenges such as limited time, low consistency, uneven motivation, and the need for relevance, and explores practical responses through focused and flexible design.
  • Module 4. Business Communication as
    Performance
    This module focuses on communication not simply as language knowledge, but as professional action. Students work with realistic communication situations such as email, meetings, presentations, and workplace interaction, and begin designing training tasks around them.
  • Module 5. Working with Textbooks vs Developing Materials
    This module develops instructional judgment in relation to learning materials. It helps students understand when materials can be used as they are, when they need adaptation, and when a more purposeful redesign or original creation is required.

  • Module 6. Case Study: The WES Communicative Skill Model
    This module presents a practical case that illustrates how communication-focused learning design can be structured more intentionally. It gives students a concrete example of how needs, performance goals, and material decisions come together in a real design process.
  • Module 7. AI as a Co-Designer and Portfolio Outcome
    The final module explores how AI can support idea generation, lesson planning, adaptation, and material development in learning design. It also brings the course together through portfolio work, helping students collect and present selected tasks as evidence of their development.
